Merry Christmas!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Well, it’s that time of the year again. Right now, we’re watching A Christmas Story on TNT. Ralphie just decoded his Little Orphan Annie message. His father is trying to fix the furnace and his mother just broke the leg lamp. LOL Watching this movie reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid. It was all about receiving as many gifts as I could. I think we received the first Christmas catalog in the mail in September and I believe it was from Sears. The closest I got to a sermon about the real meaning of Christmas was Linus’ speech in A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s funny, but I’m TOTALLY serious.

Of course, as an adult, things are different. Although we know Jesus wasn’t born on December 25th or even in the winter, we celebrate the fact that He was indeed born and He is our hope. So now, for me, it’s not about presents. It’s about His presence in my life. See what I did there? LOL

I pray you’re having a blessed time with your friends and family. Even though the holiday season is considered the most wonderful time of the year, most of us have some form of drama going on in our lives. (I didn’t say you’re affected by it, I said it’s there.) If you don’t have your own, just watch the news. My point is, we all have something going on that can upset us. But there’s ALWAYS HOPE IN OUR LORD, JESUS CHRIST and it goes beyond the end of the year.

May you carry the hope of Christ with you everyday of your life.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Just blogging it out!!

  1. Linus huh lol…so true though. I didn’t get the Truth until I studied for myself by force. By that, I mean being confronted by a JW as a babe in Christ. I was stunned like a deer in headlights. Anyway, I got the Truth and found, when I tried to share with believers it didn’t really matter to them because some people rather believe what was told them(a lie) rather than the Truth. These lies are then passed down to children(Christian children) and we wonder why so many of them when they grow up walk away from the Faith. The Truth lies in Christ the Lord and my prayer is that people come to know Him whose presences is always with us. Merry Christmas to you and Antoine. Beautiful profile pic. Oh, and the one with Scout the wonder dog is nice too. LOL

  2. Thank you for reading and commenting. I think people tend to be happier around this time of the year, so they’re okay with holding on to tradition. What’s sad to me is when people allow themselves to go in debt to give presents or become depressed when they can’t give. Children are not only taught to expect expensive gifts, but to be disappointed if they don’t receive them. If we’ve designated this time to celebrate the birth of Christ, we shouldn’t expect any gifts because it AIN’T our birfday. LOL I know I’m silly. Merry Christmas, Lynda!!
